A dawn fire on Wednesday razed two rooms at the students hostel of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Idi Araba, Lagos.
The fire broke out around 9a.m in a room located at the left corner of the three-storey apartment block in Block Six of the college hostel, at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.
Spokesman for CMUL, Olusesan Odejimi, confirmed the incident, saying occupants of the rooms forgot to unplug their electric cooker from the wall socket before leaving for lectures.
When power was restored, a spark in the cooker ignited a fire which spread to the second room.
The inferno was put out after an hour.
Although no life was lost, property whose value could not estimated was damaged.
